I recently visited the picturesque Natal village in the Kankavali taluka of the Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra, India for a puja. The temple area had a beautiful religious atmosphere, and although we didn't bring a camera, we managed to take some photos using our mobile phones.
The Sri Rameshwar temple in the village is recognized as a Jagurt temple, and the priest, known as the Gurava, showers Rameshwar in a special way to grant wishes and bring happiness to the devotees.
Another temple in the village is the Mauli temple, which newly wedded couples visit to pray for their future happiness.
Natal village is also a Gram Panchayat, and at the entrance, there's an attractive statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Gadanadi, the river that courses through the heart of Natal village, reveals its pebbled riverbed in the summer months when monsoon rains swell its waters. In a bid to safeguard the river's ecosystem, locals have planted trees along its banks. When the rainy season arrives, the river is rejuvenated by a deluge of waterfalls that converge into its strong, rushing currents. With nature awash in myriad shades of green, cloud-kissed mountains, enchanting waterfalls, and the captivating beauty of the river, it's impossible not to fall in love with Natal village during the monsoons.
