Yoga, an ancient practice that connects the mind, body and spirit, is very beneficial for our physical and mental health. Recognizing the importance of this unique art, Gurukul Kriti Foundation Trust and Shito Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing Association joined hands to celebrate International Yoga Day on 21st June. This collaborative program aims to introduce children to advanced forms of yoga, harnessing their flexibility and fostering a deeper sense of well-being.
International Yoga Day serves as a global platform to embrace and enjoy the transformative power of yoga. Rooted in ancient Indian traditions, yoga has gained widespread recognition for its ability to promote holistic health. Combining physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama) and meditation techniques, yoga provides a comprehensive approach to wellness that nurtures both body and mind.
The event witnessed a diverse group of children, all of whom were already involved in learning karate and kickboxing, displaying their remarkable flexibility. Motivated by their passion for both yoga and the sport of kickboxing, the instructors enjoyed imparting their expertise to these enthusiastic young students.
Honorable Umesh Murkar, President of SSKKA and Sports Kickboxing Association Mumbai City, was awarded the prestigious title of Yoga Guru by the Director of Sports in 2015. His dedication to the practice of yoga, played out by his exceptional leadership. An important role in promoting its wider adoption in the community.
Under the guidance of renowned instructors Vignesh Murkar, Roshan Shetty and Bhupesh Vaiti, the children who participated in the program received comprehensive training in various forms of yoga. These expert instructors, well-versed in the principles and techniques of yoga, skillfully guided young students, helping them develop balance, strength and mental clarity.
The benefits of yoga go beyond physical flexibility. Regular practice can improve concentration, reduce stress and anxiety, increase flexibility, and foster a deeper connection between body and mind. By developing these invaluable life skills in children at an early age, this International Yoga Day celebration aims to lay the foundation for a healthier and more balanced future generation.
The program not only talked about the importance of physical fitness but also highlighted the importance of mental health. Through yoga, children are encouraged to develop self-awareness, compassion and mindfulness, allowing them to navigate life's challenges with grace and poise.
As the program concluded, it left a lasting impression on the young participants, inspiring them to continue their journey in the world of yoga. With a powerful combination of karate, kickboxing and yoga, these children were equipped for holistic well-being, paving the way for a harmonious integration of body, mind and spirit.
Finally, the celebration of International Yoga Day by the Gurukul Kriti Foundation Trust and the Shito Ryu Sports Karate and Kickboxing Association is a remarkable testament to the transformative power of yoga.
